Try a silicon oil lube. It won't dry as quickly as water-based, but it will dry eventually. The cooling problem could be solved if you could surround the object with a heating jacket. Maybe you could adapt an electric blanket for this purpose. You could also try using a heating mantle designed for chemical glware.
